Edonays Caballero
SUP Coach and National Champion 🇵🇦
Edonays Caballero is a high-performance athlete and one of the leading figures in stand-up paddleboarding in Panama. He is 6-time consecutive National Champion, Central American SUP Champion, and placed 7th place in the Americas at the Pan American Games. He has more than 8 years of experience at sea and has spent more than a decade working as a certified sports trainer.
His story began in 2011, when he decided to transform his lifestyle and improve his health after struggling with weight issues. In 2017, he discovered stand-up paddleboarding and found in this sport a new passion that would change his life. Through years of discipline, training, and perseverance, he went from being an amateur to becoming one of the leading figures in competitive SUP in Panama and the region.
Today, from Playa Venao, Pedasí, shares her experience and passion for the sport through classes and training programs for paddlers of all levels, from those stepping onto a board for the first time to athletes looking to improve their technique and performance. She also fosters a local paddling community, helping new paddlers discover SUP and enjoy the water safely.
His goal is simple:
To share everything he’s learned along the way and help you have fun, improve, and grow on a board.
Achievements
- 2025 Central American Games: He won the gold medal in the Men’s SUP Race at the Central American Surfing Games held in Guatemala.
- 2025 Bolivarian Games: He won the silver medal in the SUP Race at the 2025 Ayacucho-Lima Bolivarian Games, becoming the first Panamanian surfer to win a medal at these Games.
- 2024 National Champion: The Panamanian Surfing Association has recognized him as the 2024 National Champion of Panama in Men’s SUP Racing.
- ALAS Pro Tour 2024: He finished in 4th place in the SUP Race at the 6-star ALAS Pro Tour event held in Surf City, El Salvador.
- Qualification for the 2023 Pan American Games: The first Panamanian paddler to qualify for the 2023 Pan American Games, securing his spot in the Technical SUP Race event.
- 2022 ISA World Championship: At the ISA World Stand Up Paddle and Paddleboard Championship, held in Puerto Rico, he finished 25th in the SUP Technical Race and placed 9th overall in the SUP Sprint standings.
- Competition in Guatemala 2021: He won the gold medal in the Men’s SUP Race at the Bicentenario Surf Fest in Guatemala and was recognized at that time as Panama’s National Champion.
